Translation: Arabic/Finnish [language]

My Arabic oral examination - a five minute conversation with the professor - is in a little over an hour.
I'm afraid I'll begin using Finnish words in place of the Arabic I don't know.

Honestly, I can see it happening. For some reason, my brain reverts to Finnish under stress or when dealing with another foreign language.

For those who don't know: I spent a year abroad in Finland, my junior year in high school. It was the best experience of my life & I'm considering turning my journal into a book.

Please wish me luck y'all.

[info]mini_nanowrimo is over and yet, I continue to write; that's awesome.
I just wish the majority of said writing was going towards creative lengths, not papers! The mods posted the final word count: 8384/3000 for me! fuck yeah!

Somehow, the week before finals is when everyone is swamped with more work than the actual test week. yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either. I wrote a paper last night & another one tonight, as well as worked on the layout for our SPJ chapter's quarterly plus an editorial piece.

but the library and IC (information commons, 3-story building of study tables, rooms + computers) is open for 24 hours until Friday night. Extended hours over the weekend & then the 24 hours kicks in again for the weekday. This Thursday will be a study party - it will be the longest Thursday ever.

if you wanted my schedule )

It's 2:20AM. Yesterday this morning? I was in bed at this hour, trying to fall asleep. Today I'm gonna finish this post, shower & crawl into bed. oh god. I just realized we don't have enough coffee for tomorrow morning. *headdesk*

I honestly tried to write a bit more of [info]xover_exchange fic. I know exactly what I want to write, the direction I need to take it in - and my fingers refuse to lengthen it. It's a week before the final turn-in date. argh!

So I went over to [info]comment_fic and wrote for the prompt that I saw this morning but couldn't claim since my wrist still ached something fierce. (I burned it putting cinnamon rolls in the oven.)

I signed up for [info]dc_fireplace... and am considering claiming have claimed a Castle prompt from [info]smallfandomfest, which is a minimum of 1000 words because of course, it's not like I don't have a ten-page paper due in two weeks nor finals.

heck, I've got the radio show tomorrow aka 4AM wake-up call, since the busses will be on a holiday schedule & I can't catch my regular one. I'm planning on taking a cab. but I'm still going out to dinner + to see New Moon with R so we can squee over how gorgeous Ashley Greene is!

During the lighting of Michigan Avenue + subsequent parade of floats, she was about 15 yards away from me! Of all the times for my camera to act up, Murphy's law, right? argh.

Apologies for not posting my mini-nano writings; they're going nowhere. but I am working on the companion to my Leverage fic that I wrote earlier this year: Believe. :) hopefully that will be posted by the end of next week.

So, I realised it was [info]kaitlia777's birthday yesterday & figured I should do something special since she did give me the Kane CD earlier this year. and because she's such an awesome girl + I adore her to bits. So I wrote my longest fic to date, managing to combine our mutual love of Christian Kane & cooking with one of my favorite treats ever!

You'd think 100 words wouldn't be too difficult. But I've found to pare something to its bones is harder than letting the words overtake your fingers.

aaandd in real life...

I stood in line since 5:30AM this morning & GOT MY JIMMY CHOOS!!
thank goodness I'm in Chicago, one of the ten cities the Jimmy Choo/H&M collaboration came to!

I bought the black strappy heels; also heard that Michelle Trachtenburg was spotted in them at the NYC preview party last night or whenever it was. that didn't influence my decision at all. I just figured I'd have more use for black than red. pity I can't afford both. weelll... my bank account + Mum would not be pleased. nor would I be eating for the rest of the year. one pair it is then!

I love my life at the moment.

1. I'm recording a promo for this week's show - all me.
2. Jessica Prah, the principal for Paramount PR, wants my resume. keep your fingers crossed, y'all. please?
3. My mum's in town until Wednesday.
4. I get to attend court tomorrow.

Working on the book & its report that's due tomorrow, attending two lectures (that are scheduled for the same. time.) tonight & hopefully dinner out with Mum + her conference buddies. For her, it'll be a working dinner. but at least I get to spend some time with her!

I'll post later with today's Mini-Nano, although it should be for the [info]xover_exchange. I've hit a block in the plot, 600 words in. argh.

The Ellen Show is coming to my campus!
Well, technically, her crew members.

They're hosting a scavenger hunt at 6PM - the first ten people to complete it & get back to the starting spot will win a prize. Her prizes in the past have included a free iPod, tv or an all-expenses paid trip to see the show filmed in LA. holy mother, do I want that last one!

I've got a camera on my phone. Signed up for the Twitter updates as text msg (I really hope my phone doesn't fail me.) That's how Ellen will let us know what the hunt is for. My running shoes are on & I'm ready!!

In other real-life news:

I can't hold an internship for credit because I'm not a junior or senior. nor have I completed 18 hours in my major of Communication Studies. what the-?! I went and found the freaking opportunity on my own. grr. However, when one door closes... I talked to my RA to help him out in a class (he had to interview residents) & apparently he interned with a PR company last year. He said feel free to drop his name.
